If these three had played in a different season, they would have finished closer to the playoff spots, but they were really in danger of slipping into the relegation zone.
In the summer, the Wolves were also rather busy when it came to signing new players. One of the most significant transactions was the sale of Cunha, a key offensive player from the previous season, to Manchester United. However, in his stead, the club is aggressively acquiring Brazilian and Spanish players. Therefore, the Wolves have kept up a certain level.
Things are trickier for City since they were a part of the Club World Cup in June. First things first, Al-Hilal eliminated Guardiola’s squad in the first round of the playoffs. Plus, they got an extra two weeks to relax before the competition in the US, so that was a huge relief.
